Priya Gonsalves is a self taught freestyle dancer born and raised in Mumbai city.
She practiced and perfected the art of freestyle dance mainly through observation and experimentation and dancing at night clubs around the city, and loves its free and positive atmosphere. After being noticed while dancing at clubs on many occasions and travelling to NYC, where she met many inspiring dancers, Priya decided that she wanted to be more actively involved in the Indian urban dance scene.
Being in many ways a female pioneer of this dance style in Mumbai, she is the only Indian born woman to primarily teach and choreograph styles like Hip Hop, RnB, House , Lyrical ,Dancehall, Waackin etc, making her story unique.
She was quoted by Time Out Magazine Mumbai as being “One of Mumbai’s Best Known Hip Hop Dancers” and has been featured in articles in Time out magazine, Asian age, Inbandra and several web articles as well.
Priya has been successfully teaching her self run classes in Mumbai for almost 2 years and has taught close to as many as 500 students in that time period. She also conducts corporate workshops, college festival workshops where she teaches up to 60 people at a time.
