Sandip is a German Trained Ballroom Dance Teacher, who is the first Indian to be certified by the ‘Ballroom Dance Teachers Training School’ in Bonn Germany. Sandip was the partner to the former European Ballroom Champion for nine years. Sandip is qualified to teach all Latin American & Standard Ballroom Dances till Championship Level. He stood 4th in the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing recognized worldwide

The Queen of England & The Prince of Wales, have written personal letters of appreciation to Sandip Soparrkar for promoting Ballroom & Latin American dance culture in India.

Recently he was invited to teach Madonna & her husband Guy Richie some moves of the Waltz and the Cha Cha Cha. He also taught the Columbian Pop Diva ‘Shakira’ moves of Samba during her visit to India & later with Shakira’s reference he was asked to teach Tango & Paso Doble to ‘Beyonce’ when she recently visited India too. He also has the honor of teaching the royal family of Kuwait (Emir of Kuwait, Prime Minister and the Crown Prince), along with families the classic Ballroom dances.

International Dance Sports Federation for the first time has introduced Ballroom Dancing as a form of sport in the forthcoming Olympic Games 2008. Sandip is the sole faculty to train participants from India. He was the first Indian to be invited to judge the Asian Latin & Ballroom Dance Championship held at Colombo where 32 countries took part with 78 competitive dances.

Sandip is a faculty member for the ‘Femina Miss India’, ‘Grasim Mr. India’ & ‘Indian Idol’ Contests, where he gives lectures & demonstrations on ‘International Dance Appreciation’. The contestants are introduced to various Latin American, Standard Ballroom & other famous Club Dances. He is also a part of the grooming faculty for the winning contestants who farther go ahead to represent India at the various international contests.

A faculty member at various finishing schools in Mumbai; ‘Image Inc – A Birla Lifestyle Venture’ headed by Avantika Birla and Rukshana Eisa and at Padmini Kholapure’s Model Shoppe’ headed by Tejaswini Kholapure. Sandip teaches body posture, poise, dance floor etiquette, body language & grace for couple dances at social gatherings.

He has choreographed Theatrix’s Broadway Musicals ‘Man of La Mancha’, ‘West Side Story’ & ‘Camelot’ directed by Janine Misquitta. He has also assisted in the ballroom dance sequence choreography of Shyam Benegal’s award winning film ‘Zubeida’ starring Karishma Kapoor & Manoj Bajpai, Aruna Raje’s ‘Tum’ starring Manisha Koirala, Karan Nath, Samir Karnic’s ‘Kyon Ho Gaya Na’ starring Aishwarya Rai & Vivek Oberoi, Ketan Mehta’s ‘Mangal Pandey’ starring Amir Khan & Ameesha Patel, ‘The Myth’ starring Jackie Chan, Mallika Sherawat directed by Stanley Tong & Pooja Bhatt’s ‘Holiday’ with Dino Morea. He has worked on music videos for Sonu Nigam, Kunika Lal, Mandar Agashe, Nawal & Ahlam (Pop Sensations of Kuwait). His forthcoming release is N Chandra’s Latin dance based film ‘Cyclone’ and a Malayalam film ‘Akashagopuram’ starring the South Indian super star Mohan Lal, Pradeep Guha production ‘Phir Kabhie’ starring Mithun & Dimple Kapadia.

He has worked as the Technical Director of Sony TV’s award winning dance show ‘Jhalak Dikh La Ja: Dancing with the Stars’ where he trained all the choreographers, celebrities and the judges in all the international Latin & Ballroom Dance forms. He is currently working on Zoom TV’s mega project ‘Sunsilk Gang of Girls’ as their performance mentor & Hide n Seek’s All India Latin dance couple search ‘ Aaja Jhoom Le’

Sandip has done his MBA (marketing) from Symbiosis, is a Hotel Management Graduate apart from being a model. Sandip was the finalist for the ‘Graviera Mr. India contest’ in 1997-98. Later in the same year at Chennai he won the title of India’s first ‘Mr. Young Turk.’ In 1999 he was chosen to model in seven European countries as the ‘Indian Launch Model’ for Phoenix A4 shoes. In October 2000 Sandip became the First Indian to represent India at the ‘International Male Model Contest’ held on the Caribbean Islands of Aruba where he was chosen as one of the ‘Top 21 most photogenic faces of the year.’
